Jedi:Attire

One's attire, like one's language present to the world what one IS. It is also a protective coating around oneself to buffer the chaos and roughness of the world. Take care of oneself properly.

Like all things the Jedi do, attire is something optimized until all superfluous details are removed. The enlightened warrior doesn't rely on anything s/he couldn't make him or herself.

The enlightened warrior is communicating to the subconscious of the passers-by by clothing, colors, or symbols attached to clothing, by their speech, and by their actions. These show affiliations and affinities.

Jedi and other specialists of the social order need a special way of recognizing each other. Embroided insignia would serve the function.

Clothing: tunic with leggings underneath, robe, cloak. The skin is covered so as to prevent immune system stimulation. Jedi do not wear "shorts". Although the Jedi could gain strength to avoid this issue, it is just as well that the State hold the strength until such time, if the Force so designs it, that the Jedi themselves rule.

In any case, something multi-functional (but *perfect* for its main purpose), washable (but resistant to moisture), durable (but easily replaceable), flexible (but strong), generic (transcending all fashion). Robe?

Colors of robe need not be drab, but signify purpose: business, nature, state, education, etc.

Multi-function: bedding, warmth, cloak... the hood might fold into a pillow

The Jedi can consider a (spidersilk?) cloak (color: midnight blue or black, insignia?) with a hood. When the hood is up, they are on a mission and should not be disturbed. Perhaps this might seem to make them vulnerable. But the cloak is tuned to provide.

"As long as they are serving the State, they shall exhibit the highest ideals of behavior, dress and hygiene, speech and action."
