Swag
No event is complete without #SWAG
Every hackseq has offered stickers for people to put on their laptops/gear. This is a great way to remind people throughout the year about hackseq and meet people who have a hackseq sticker (it's happened).
- Each sticker is bioinformatics homage on an iconic band-logo or album-cover.
- Stickers square 2" x 2" with rounded corners.
- Printed with Oddball Workshop they do a good job. ~$50 for 140.
At hackseq18 we printed our first set of T-shirts / Sweaters. The cost was pretty high at ~$15/sweater.
- Tie-dye sweaters (we did the tye-die in a mol bio lab sink.
- Screen printed on the hackseq logo at Artee
- Strongly suggest to keep the DIY attitude, make black bleach-spray paint with a laser-cut or 3D printed hackseq logo stencil. They will be cheap enough that we could get one for every participant even.
The winning team (selected by people's choice) should receive a modest prize:
- A visa-gift card (~$100/team member)
- We spray-painted Floppy Disks to give out a physical award. MiniDisc awards for future years would be sweet.
We offered day-of volunteers ~$20-$50 gift cards depending on their involvement. Team leads may get a small thank-you $50 gift card.
Reach out the sponsors ~1-2 months ahead of the event and ask if they have any swag to give out. Examples include: Pens, Mugs (bionformatics.ca), stickers, t-shirts, etc...
