Clothing Creator Guide

These notes are intended to help clothing and attachment creators for Ruth2 v4.

The Ruth2/Mesh/Ruth2_v4 folder contains a Blender file, dae (Collada) files, UV maps and HUD components. Objects in Ruth2v4Dev.blend can be appended to your current Blender file, edited and skinned to an armature, exported to dae format, and imported into Second Life/OpenSim compatible worlds. The dae (collada) files can be imported to most 3D modeling and texturing software: Blender, Maya, 3dsMax, Marvelous Designer, PhotoShop, Substance Painter, etc. You may need to import the dae files to your 3D modeling software and export them to another format, such as obj or fbx to get them to work better in some aps.

Ruth2v4Dev.blend objects were built in Blender 2.83, and as of this writing, are compatible with current Blender versions. They are not backwards compatible to earlier Blender versions. They are UV mapped to the legacy 2005 Second Life avatar UV map island edges and vertex weighted to be compatible with the current Second Life and OpenSim inworld "Bento" "Fitted" armature (last revised by Linden Lab in 2016).

Generic armatures are available in the Github repository: Reference/Ada Radius, where there are instructions for using them to export rigged mesh files to a Second Life/OpenSim compatible dae format. Or you can try the Avastar plugin or free armatures available at the Machinamatrix website and possibly at a few SLWiki pages.

We try to keep these files and this information up-to-date. If you find problems, please let us know at our RuthAndRoth Discord channels: https://discord.com/channels/619919380154810380/619919380691550240
