This is the patch worked out in the #40 issue for console freezes on i915 systems.

The original patch is not my creation, but in the pursuit of just being able to git clone and have it work, it'd be good to have this be official.

These are necessary but not sufficient changes. Yaft still locks the console if the VT is switched away and then back. (Ctrl+Alt+F2, Ctrl+Alt+F1).
