Scheduled scouting
Since remembering and entering the team number that you're scouting every match is tedious and unnecessary, our scouting app allows you to import a match or pit scouting schedule to automatically fill these fields in for each scout according to the device position (RED/BLUE and 1,2 or 3). To set a match schedule or pit scouting schedule in the settings screen.
After selecting the according match or pit schedule in settings, you'll have to enable either competition mode
(match scouting) or pit scouting mode
(you guessed it..pit scouting) which will begin the scheduled scouting - starting with the first row in the schedule CSV file the data will auto-populate. Note that if you turn these modes off, then they reset and if you wish to turn it on again, then it will start from the first one, not where you left off. Additionally, if you ever need to do so, in the start match view, you can edit the match number and the team number will update accordingly.
To create and use a match scouting schedule, create a CSV file of the team numbers for each match. It must follow the format below, and make sure there are no extraneous characters or other text that doesn't conform to the format for the best results. Note that the index of each row is equal to the match number minus 1, and that there should not be a header line.
RED 1, RED 2, RED 3, BLUE 1, BLUE 2, BLUE 3
An example of what this should look like is as follows:
GlacierPeak2022-Match.csv
7461,957,2990,7034,2928,1294 // match 1
4513,997,2471,1540,3663,4125 // match 2, etc..
3711,2910,2635,8248,1425,1359
5920,4915,4911,2930,2147,2557
4043,3636,5827,6831,488,3218
The easiest way to create a match schedule is not in fact manually entering the team numbers yourself, but to head to your event on FIRSTInspires, go to the Event Results
section and then click on Qualification Matches
then highlight all the data in the table, and paste it in Excel or Google Sheets. Remove all extra columns and rows so that it only contains the team numbers, then export as CSV.
Another feature of this app that not every team may use is pit scouting schedules: this allows you to assign pits to each tablet in your fleet to scout. So if there are for example, 30 teams at an event, then you can assign 5 to each tablet and send your scouts into the pits to record the data in one shot without them having to write it down or return each time to ask which to do next.
Pit scouting follows the format below:
TEAM NUMBER, TEAM NAME
And an example of this would look like:
GlacierPeak2022-Pit.csv
2412,Robototes
1899,Saints Robotics
1778,Chill Out
7461,Sushi Squad
5827,Code Purple
