Winetricks doesn't work #124
Comments
Do you have "prefer system libraries" disabled? Click configure on whatever application/game in Lutris you're trying to run then choose "system options" tab and set "prefer system libraries" to enabled. I can confirm this happens when its disabled as this issue already explains: lutris/lutris#1576
|
Conversely, you can disable "prefer system libraries" but you need to have "disable lutris runtime" enabled. Click configure on whatever application/game in Lutris you're trying to run then choose "system options" tab and set "prefer system libraries" to disabled and "disable lutris runtime" to enabled. If you want to go that way. |
Thank you for the answer. I had seen this issue before, but the logs I saw on other issue reports weren't exactly the same. My guess was there could be something wrong with my instalation or something. I confirm the problem is solved by your suggestion. I launched lutris after exporting Enabling Any reason for having to disable the runtime for this to work? Was I using this incorrectly? |
Not sure of that one myself. I don't yet understand what Lutris is doing there. Though the runtime simply looks to be the paths they use to find libraries required for Lutris to run. Disabling/enabling that setting just changes the paths I believe which is probably why it interacts with system libraries. Since I'm not a Lutris dev, I would have to do a bunch of debugging and look into the paths and what's found there, etc. to fully understand it which I won't be doing. The thing to me that I keep going back to is why the paths/libraries they use causes pango to be unable to see fribidi_get_par_embedding_levels_ex() in fribidi. That is the real problem with the Lutris runtime at least to me anyway. |
Ok thank you very much for your help... Not sure if I should close this issue? Is disabling the runtime a fix or a workarround? |
Yeah, I don't know either. The Lutris devs can decide is my guess. It is solved and they will know about it so I'm just conflicted on that one myself lol. At least we got you a solution that allows you to continue on :-) |
disabling the runtime is only a workaround. |
