The 100 Roses design went through a number of iterations, from paper-prototype, through lo-fi, to finally hi-fidelity wireframe.
The following were de-scoped until core functionality was guaranteed, and until a future round of development:
- Capturing and sending any kind of media formats, since using the camera brought up too many data issues.
- Sending an e-mail, which hinged on the user having an Internet connection and brought up questions about configuration.
- Sending multiple messages, too large of a story
- Fake shutdown, unnecessary due to the disguise
- Data erasure, decrypted SMS messages are already deleted off the phone
- Cancel button pin,not enough time
- UI, focus on features with the understanding that real users would be testing the app in a few weeks for feedback
- App on phone
- Send SMS to specific recipients
- Attach location and update periodically
- Return to homescreen to “fakeshutdown”
- Effective data erasure
- Encrypted data
