Omnikey Cardman

The cardman driver might support OMNIKEY CardMan 2020/6020/6120 devices, but
it is not yet complete, and the original author has stopped working on it.

The cm4000 driver supports OMNIKEY CardMan 4000. It is available in OpenCT 0.6.5 and later.
You’ll still need the kernel driver for this card, either the one from OMNIKEY. An updated version of that driver will be merged into the mainline kernel for 2.6.15.

!CardMan 4040 starts in OpenCT 0.6.6. It works with both the omnikey kernel driver as well as with
the new open source kernel driver (included in linux kernel 2.6.15). Unfortunalty there is a bug in the
kernel driver, so you might need kernel 2.6.16.17 or 2.6.17 to get it to work.

Both cm4000 and cm4040 latest kernel drivers can be downloaded from http://svn.gnumonks.org/trunk/omnikey_cardman/new/kernel/

If you have any problems with cm4000, 4040, 3121 or 5121, please contact Harald Welte <laforge@gnumonks.org>.

Test results

If you have tested one of these readers, please add a report here.

  • CardMan 2020 on Fedora Core 3 and 4 with OpenCT 0.6.5 and earlier versions: failure
  • CardMan 4000 on Fedora Core 4test2 with OpenCT 0.6.5rc1: failure (well, it does read the ATR, see above).
  • CardMan 4000 on Debian unstable (ppc): working
  • CardMan 4000 on Debian unstable (x86_64): working
  • CardMan 4000 on Debian unstable (i386): working (tested with gnupg, pcscd, OpenCT 0.6.6 and the OpenPGP card)
  • CardMan 4040 on Debian unstable (x86_64,i386): working
  • CardMan 4040 on Fedora Core 5 (i386): working (need to uncomment the cm4040 part in /etc/openct.conf and a sudo mknod -m 666 /lib/udev/devices/cmx0 c 253 0)
  • CardMan 3121 on Debian unstable (x86_64): working (ifd-ccid)
  • CardMan 3121 on Ubuntu 7.10 (x86): working (ifd-ccid from http://omnikey.aaitg.com/index.php?id=69))
  • CardMan 5121 on Debian unstable (x86_64): working (ifd-ccid, only the contact-based interface)
  • CardMan 6020 on Fedora Core 3 and 4test2 with OpenCT 0.6.5rc1: failure.

Alternative

Some recent OMNIKEY USB readers (like 3021, 3121, 5121) work with the generic USB CCID driver.
