I'm always frustrated with the installation process of this package. I have tried all the possible configurations I thought might work, or that people in the issues have suggested. In the end, I got it to work but I cannot replicate it on another system now. even after copying the same branch version.
Please update the branch versions to use for each package somewhere in the description. I suggest so as these packages are being used in multiple other projects like kimera-multi and hydra and it's a hassle to get everything running.
make multiple .rosinstall files for different versions of Ubuntu and projects.

It has been tough to get the whole package running in different scenarios like Kimera multi or Hydra. It will be simpler if the configurations are already written. a lot of installation issues are there due to the vague descriptions of which particular branches to use for all the different modules
