Privy.sh uses the excellent Age encryption tool to encrypt and decrypt all top level directories in a git repository using a passphrase protected key.
You desire the convenience of Github for small encrypted file storage.
This is mildly naughty.
Github is a free service and you are abusing the kindness of their hearts, sucking the very lifeblood out of their business to store your encrypted files for free. (you scum)
- Github is a 7.5 billion dollar company.
- Github probably used your code to build their proprietary Github Copilot
software.
(Did they forget to ask you too?) - Github is owned by Micro$oft, so its only a matter of time before they’re ruined anyways.
- Is this really a moral quandary? You may be over thinking this.
- Install Age v1.0.0+ for the
age
andage-keygen
commands. - Clone privy.sh.
git clone https://github.com/DAFF0D11/privy.sh privy
- Create a (private) repository and update the remote of privy with your
repository url.
git remote set-url origin new.git.url
- Update
PROJECT_DIR=~/privy
to the directory of your git repository (do not use quotes) - run
./privy.sh generate-key
to generate a passphrase protected key.age file. - Add directories you wish to encrypt.
- run
./privy.sh update
to encrypt and push to git origin.
use ./privy.sh help
for a full list of options.
Github allows 100MB per file and 1GB per repository.
(Exceeding 1GB per repository directly correlates to an increase in naughtiness)
