Checklist

  • I made sure that there are no existing issues - open or closed - which I could contribute my information to.
  • I have read the FAQ and my problem isn't listed.
  • I have taken the time to fill in all the required details. I understand that the bug report will be dismissed otherwise.
  • This issue contains only one bug.

Affected version

24.71

Device Type

Smart TV/Box

Affected Android

Fire TV Stick: Fire OS 8.1.2.5 (RS8125/2586)

Steps to reproduce the bug

  1. Disable shorts in channels tab
  2. Goto channels tab and pin desired channel to the sidebar
  3. Go to the pinned channel in the sidebar
  4. Shorts will be visible again

Actual behavior

This issue used to be nonexistent but occurred recently (probably with an update, can't recall which one, though) and is like that ever since. I've tried disabling and reenabling the feature with no effect.

I tried it on 24.77 with about five channels. Some I expected to have shorts and at least one I know has shorts. I didn't see any.

Thank you for the quick reply! I would really like to solve the problem as it is quite annoying.

I have this issue with every single pinned channel, don't really know what causes it. Now that I think about it more, I'm not even sure it started right after an update and not just randomly at some point.

Do you think a reinstall action could solve the issue? I'm hesitant to do so because of all the customizations I have made in the app.

In the attachment I have captured the exact scenario, just so we are on the same page.

There is a backup and restore feature in Settings. I use it anytime I reinstall the application. It works great.

I created SmartTube Manager to make it easier to uninstall and reinstall various versions of SmartTube beta.

I would say reinstalling it is worth a try, but it seems unlikely to help. It would be slightly more likely if you don't restore your settings. Though you could not restore the settings, see if it helps, and then restore when you are done testing.

Another idea would be to install both the stable and beta versions of SmartTube. They can be installed in parallel. Then you can use one version, and test with the other.

Note, I am am just another user, not one of the developers.

You have good taste. I watch many of the same YouTube channels.
