Is it possible that this solution is not working against the latest mysql versions? I'm testing it locally (simulated long transaction) and it's not echoing any results. I'd be greatful for any suggestions.

It is working for 5.6.19 on my server. Be sure to connect to the MySQL server remotely when testing.
