Allow selection without focusing for input?

Is there a way to prevent xterm.js from getting text input focus when the terminal window is clicked, but still allow xterm.js to do text selection via mouse/touch?

I want the ability to select the onscreen text on a mobile platform, but I don't want to trigger opening the on screen keyboard.
