Lagging typing after a short while

Type: Performance Issue

Typing normally and after a while the input will start to lag. This only seems to effect adding new characters. The cursor can still be moved and the delayed input will be "typed" into where the cursor is eventually. It also seems to be possible to still remove characters (with either backspace or del) while it is lagging resulting on some very frustrating behaviour.
This may have started happening since updating to Haxe 4.3.0

[AlexHaxe]

reports of people experiencing high CPU usage have come in after switching to vscode 1.77.
issue starts when saving Haxe files.

after trying out different approaches to try and fix the issue, I haven't been able to come up with a working solution.
so for now disabling the extension is "the workaround".
