Steps taken:
Using the AUR version of weechat, weechat-discord-git
/discord token [my token]
/discord connect

same issue for me , weechat just hangs

Same for me as well on a 2024 acc.
Oddly I was able to connect the first time, but then my token changed and I'm unable to connect since then (even with the new token). Tried an old alt of mine from 2020 and it still doesn't work.
