How to authenticate with google

I've done a setup and when trying to authenticate with google it redirects me to this type of url if I use the signUpWith I get https://*********.supabase.co/auth/v1/auth/v1/authorize?provider=google&redirect_to=http://localhost:3001 and if I remove the extra auth/v1 then it works.

If I use the loginWith then it is fine.

But I also don't know how to get a response/result of the authentication because there is no onFail or onSuccess or something for me as shown in this example.

You mustn't specify auth/v1 in the supabase client builder. Which version are you using? And which platform?

I did not specify the auth/v1 in the supabase client, using 0.7.2 and on web

The code you showed is for Desktop. There is also an example for Web

Also you see if the OAuth was successful if GoTrue#sessionStatus is Authenticated. You can collect the sessionStatus Flow to receive changes or use it as a state in Compose for Web

I just updated the wiki for further clarification. Signing up with OAuth works like Login in with OAuth (Fail -> no session, Success -> valid session)

Hey @jan-tennert i am trying to signup using email and password but getting this error.

io.github.jan.supabase.exceptions.HttpRequestException: HTTP request to http://localhost?redirect_to=supabase%3A%2F%2Flogin (POST) failed with message: Operation not permitted

i am not able to understand why i am getting this http://localhost

yep as I said you can use Google in-app sign in, then you don't need any browser but you have to setup that up yourself and then put in the id token and client id in supabase.

I am gonna build that login system tomorrow. thanks again i was waiting for appwrite to add relational database or something that will help me to complete my project. but now i will switch to supabase . thanks again 😊

Please add this in GoTrue doc to add Internet permission in AndroidManifest.xml file. it is crucial

yes finally got it. sorry to ask you this but is there any way that we can open the OAuth url ( google ) inside the app or by using the CustomTabs because , when i tried the google auth it opens in my phone browser and even after getting back to the app that google account url was still opened in my browser. so i think if we can open the link in customTab we will be able to close that after successfully login .
