Greetings!

I'm TJ, a software developer and DevOps engineer by day. By night, I'm a geek who loves to build and create things. While I love the work I do at my fulltime job, I find it often limits my ability to innovate. During my work, I may see a problem that exists or a tool that is missing but I can't work on it either because a customer isn't paying for it or it simply falls outside of what the company wants to work on.

As a result, I've recently started creating open source projects to help solve the problems I've seen or create the tool that is missing. I have thrived so much in my career by using open source technology, it's my time to give back. I'm not in it for the money, fame, or glory. I'm in it to help people, plain and simple.

I've setup this sponsor account more to help offset the costs associated with the work I'm doing. Many of my projects use Azure resources, resources in my home lab, and/or code signing certificates. After a while, the costs of these resources add up and little help with them goes a long way at keep these projects thriving.

Current Projects

These are list of the "main" projects that I'm currently working on. By main, I mean these are the ones that getting the most focus right now. I'll do my best to keep the list up to date, but if you are ever curious as to what I'm actively working on, just checkout my GitHub profile page.

TSA Coding Challenge

This is a really fun side project for me that has deep personal connection. To understand it the best, it needs a bit of a setup story. When I was in middle school, a group of my friends and I in the A/V Club were approached by one of the tech-ed teachers about joining a club called Technology Student Association (TSA). The quick background is they are an organization for students to use technology to compete in competitions against one another. It open my eyes to a whole new world and honestly made me the geek I am today.

Fast-forward to today, my daughter joined the very same club (the awesome part is she did it without me even suggesting it). To give back to an organization that gave me so much, I volunteer as a judge for the regional and state competitions. One of the competitions is a coding competition where students have two hours to solve a series of problems using a language of their choosing. The problem, they judge and evaluate the solutions by hand making the competition painful for all involved. So the geek in me got to work and I'm currently building out a tool that will do most of the judging and evaluation automatically. Checkout any of my repos with TSA in the name if you are curious or are interested in contributing.

Every month, I average around $200USD for Azure resources. This for things like DNS, VMs, App Service Plans, Key Vaults, etc. My goal is help offset some of the costs incurred by the open source projects I'm currently working on.
