About Me
I have been writing code for the past 20+ years. I have been focused on Elixir since 2014, with some JavaScript/Typescript/Angular mixed in. Prior to that I worked in Java, and before that PHP, and HTML/CSS.
I am currently focusing my free time (including Dockyard Fridays) on contributing back to the Elixir community. Check out my Blog Posts for more in-depth information on some of my recent Open Source work.
I have "a list". Whenever I run into something while working, and think "I wish this was available", or "this would be better if it did this", I add it to the list. When I have free time, I scan the list, pluck something off, and get to work.
One passion of mine is diving into an existing codebase and cleaning it up. This includes everything from a robust CI testing/linting plan, to useful tools like Mix Test Watch, git hooks, coveralls, Credo, Dialyzer, etc... Project Ironman is a hex archive that you can use to apply a lot off these tools to your project. If you are interested in me taking a look at your codebase and suggesting ways to improve it structurally, check out my sponsor levels and how you can connect with me over Discord.
I enjoy mentoring others in Elixir. For more information on how I have done that in the past, check out my ElixirConf 2019 talk: 0-60 in under 3: How Cars.com and DockYard Manufactured a Productive Elixir Team in Under 3 Months. If this is something that appeals to you, it is available on a small scale through some of my sponsorship levels.
If your company is looking for a larger scale Elixir engagement, our Elixir engineers at DockYard would love to help out.
