Hi, I'm Gabriel Staples. Get to know me here. I'm originally from a small farming town in Idaho, but now I live and work in the San Francisco Bay, CA area. I thrive on writing and contributing to open source and giving back to the community by writing software on GitHub and placing high-quality content on Stack Overflow and other Stack Exchange sites.

I am the author of git diffn, pdf2searchablepdf, eRCaGuy_dotfiles, eRCaGuy_hello_world, eRCaGuy_PyTime, eRCaGuy_PPM_Writer, eRCaGuy_X9C_digital_pot, eRCaGuy_TimerCounter, eRCaGuy_analogReadXXbit, and other open source content.

I'd really like to work on open source projects more, but the need for a full-time job makes that difficult. If you can sponsor me, you help me get one step closer to my dream of not having to work a traditional "day job" anymore, so I can contribute more to the open source community, do more to educate, and do more to confront new and challenging ideas.

Your sponsorships help me create more git tools like git diffn, more Arduino tools like eRCaGuy_PPM_Writer, and more PDF tools like pdf2searchablepdf.

I said in 2014:

It should be the end goal of any professional to reach such a high level of skill at what you do that you are no longer limited by your abilities; but rather, you are limited only by your imagination.
~Gabriel Staples, 25 Feb. 2014

...and in 2020:

Reach your true potential.
~Gabriel Staples, 20 July 2020

With your sponsorship, someday I can quit my full-time job and do more of that. I'd also really like to get more into autonomous aircraft and drones again.

Some of my heros include Limor Fried (LadyAda) of Adafruit Industries, Destin Sandlin of Smarter Every Day, Shane Wighton of Stuff Made Here, Massimo Banzi of Arduino, Paul Stoffregen of PJRC.com and Teensy, and Mark Rober.

Thank you for taking part with me to share knowledge and help make the world a better place. ❤️ 😊

When I get a star on a repo or an upvote on a Stack Overflow answer, I know I just helped someone, and that tremendously brightens my day. Getting each and every one of my 10 first sponsors would make me feel that way!
