According to the source code, "mode" should be "download" or "monitor" (check the config template too).

The mode for the example config is at it is in the repository right now. Which is 'download'

Seeing as it's not picking up on any of your config values, that means it is not properly able to read your config. You should look into that. There's also the two errors specifically at the beginning of your log there:
