I just wanted to open an issue because it's crashing for me as well. My touch event is pause and my shell crashed even without touchscreen. Same version of GNOME and extension, Fedora 40 (so maybe it's a Fedora thing) and it's also on Wayland.
So Microsoft Surface probably isn't a problem.
The only issue I've seen in Logs was: Gdm: on_display_added: assertion 'GDM_IS_REMOTE_DISPLAY (display)' failed
and some systemd mumbo jumbo, but I get this log a lot so it might not have to do anything with the extension. Or this extension is what causes the log, even when it doesn't crash. I just don't think it has anything to do with the crash itself.
