Debugging the Scorm Player
Obviously, there are plenty of things that can go wrong with the Scorm Player tool. But they
generally break down into a few different categories. Here are some log4j suggestions for
debugging.
(1) Serving content package resources
-Depending on your chosen ScormResourceService in components, try turning on:
log4j.logger.org.sakaiproject.scorm.service.sakai.impl.SakaiResourceService=DEBUG
or
log4j.logger.org.sakaiproject.scorm.service.standalone.impl.StandaloneResourceService=DEBUG
-To see the resources being loaded into Wicket, use:
log4j.logger.org.sakaiproject.scorm.ui.player.components.LazyLaunchPanel=DEBUG
(2) SJAX Communication
-To debug Wicket's AJAX communcation inside the browser, turn on these two:
log4j.logger.org.sakaiproject.scorm.ui.player.ScormTool=DEBUG
log4j.logger.org.sakaiproject.wicket.protocol.http.SakaiWebApplication=DEBUG
-To see high-level output from the SCORM API Communication at the server, turn on:
log4j.logger.org.sakaiproject.scorm.ui.player.components.SjaxContainer=DEBUG
-To see more detailed output from the SCORM API Communcation at the server, turn on:
log4j.logger.org.sakaiproject.scorm.service.impl.ScormApplicationServiceImpl=DEBUG
(3) ADL Code problems
These are a bit more intractable, since we can usually assume that ADL got the SCORM logic right,
but there were a few things that changed when we brought that code into the player. The most
notable is that anything we store in the database using Hibernate returns List interface objects
rather than Vectors, as the original ADL code required. Also, where the ADL code assumed an empty
Vector would be NULL, Hibernate always returns an empty List. So there may still be places
where the ADL code assumes NULL and it's getting back a List of size 0. The attempt has been made
to find all these and patch them to check for empty Lists.
(4) Database/Hibernate issues
Probably, to debug these, you'll want to turn on the Hibernate debugging.
