How to export the mask as a png image?

• I have searched the Supervision issues and found no similar feature requests.

Question

I am using supervision in combination with segment-anynthing and would like to obtain a simple PNG image for the mask, with a different pixel value for each segmented area. It is optional to provide a list of pixel values and their corresponding label types (e.g. glasses, faces, cars), but this is not essential.

Is there an easy way to do it?

and

sv.plot_images_grid(
    images=[img_bgr, annotated_image],
    grid_size=(1, 2),
    titles=['source image', 'segmented image']
)

It would be enough to export the plot to a png (of the annotated_image)

And print out the labels somehow.

Before we brainstorm, could you give me more info on what you plan to do with those masks? Do you plan to just display them or use them in some processing pipeline?

Why not just save detections in some typical format like PASCAL VOC or YOLO or COCO?

I am more of an png / xcf / gimp guy. But I am willing to try new things.

How would I would export sam_result export into a PASCAL, YOLO or COCO file?

Is annotated image in this case just an opencv mat (sorry, coming from an cpp background and I a bit confused about opencv in python)?

YOLO format is a text file storing information about obtained detection, like, in your case, the geometry of the polygon you got from SAM. You can use this method to save the whole dataset. In your case, the dataset can be a single image or multiple images.
