What's the unit doing right now - status codes?

I have a 16kW Altherma 3M (EDLA16DA3V37) - and am encountering a few "why did it do that" queries - are any of the outputs a current status something useful to give a 'running commentary' on what it's doing right now? this is prompted by eg.

• Running a DHW cycle, i've put it into powerful mode... but it stops after ~40 minutes without hitting target temperature, and the immersion isn't running either. No error codes shown.
• Defrost mode activated on a warm summer day, why did it do that? - hypothesis is there's a 'defrost every 12hours" feature - a status code of "defrost / oil recycle timer triggered" - however brief, before it then goes onto defrost status.

So, why did it stop? why did it defrost? Is there a maximum run time that it's bumped into? (i've already set the standard one longer, and not bumped into this previously). or an actual error? (none shown by ESP Altherma)

I'd like to know why it stopped, why it defrosted. All gas boilers i've had were willing to show a current status on the screen eg "S:04" which is decoded to mean ... waiting for call for heat. or even one that = "anti cycling delay" etc.... it gives a view on what state it's in right now.

Is there a status i should be listening to?
