Many communities live inside of slack, telegram or discord and since they are paid, and linear conversations mostly it's difficult to find structured information about a topic that was discussed earlier. Sub communities can -- for a prototype of this we could use our tags functionality as a first version.
Some communities may span multiple tags in the future. For example lightning labs has multiple products which may have their own tags. We might want to separate the tag and sub community feature but for now just using tags can be the things that allow us to step towards that since there are very simple demands currently, and not much content being generated at the moment.
Sub communities and projects may in the future be interlinked somehow. For example we may allow projects to show that they are using Slashtags, or Nostr, and those might be linked to their own sub communities.
Slashtags is a tool from Synonym so maybe they would want to have their own pages which show off content from the entire site which relate to their tools.
