Hey everyone, I hope everyone is doing well, as we have something in store for everyone, some good, some bad, however, rest assured the development of this project is still ongoing. February is quite a busy month for us and since both of us are quite burned out, we'll be taking a hiatus until March to recollect and rest up for a Q1 release. However, that still doesn't mean we can't provide updates, so here's a rundown on what we discussed just this night.
Partnership with Inochi2D
Effective today, we will be partnering with @Inochi2D to provide a free, open-source alternative for Live2D. Our team has considered this a priority task to provide them assistance and provide additional resources to accelerate the development of Inochi2D to be used a production-ready puppeteering software.
Project Modularization
Our project as of today is still monolithic with a hard dependency with Live2D and FaceRecognitionDotNet. To provide a more customizable experience, we will now modularize our project to allow people to add and remove addons that suits their preferences. This is now slated for our Q2 Roadmap and will be expected to be implemented by that time.
Q1 WILL NOT include a Face Recognition Backend
As Q1 closes to a release, we decided to scrap the current backend. The team reached a consensus that the engineering time to make it work for this Q1 Beta release will not be worth the time and resources and would instead focus on critical areas such as the new Face Tracking Backend that is currently in development.
We are sorry if you expected Q1 to include a face tracking backend outright, but we believe that a good product has to have a good first impression, so this decision is made as our way of ensuring everyone gets the quality experience you expect from us.
Closing Remarks
We would like to extend our sincerest gratitiude to all supporters and of course our LiberaPay patrons for supporting us in any way they can. As I mentioned in the preface, we will be taking a hiatus so we can have a little break and think on how we can approach our problems for this project. Until then, see you on Q1 Beta!
