First: You have to use Linux Mint 21.3 Edge version to complete the installation. Then everything works great. Very clean boot with no errors or warnings in dmesg. Flawless performance.
There is only ONE issue, a 'thumping' sound when sound is played after the system is idle.
See notes below for the remedy to this issue.
Optional - Notes
By default, audio power saving is turned off by most drivers. It can be enabled by setting the power_save parameter; a time (in seconds) to go into idle mode. For some reason Intel has this driver set to go into idle mode in 1 second. Here is how to change it and make the change persistent.
Fixes the thumping sound when sound is idle and then a sound event occurs.
Fixes it immediately for the current session for a 20 minute time out.
echo '1200' | sudo tee /sys/module/snd_hda_intel/parameters/power_save
Fixes it after a reboot.
echo "options snd_hda_intel power_save=1200" | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/audio_disable_powersave.conf
