Templates for Workflows

Within the scaling Trubudget project we discussed the situation, that it would be beneficial for the users, if a workflow could be created based on a pre-configured template. So we would need a repository of potential workflows, that could be selected.

The repository could contain workflows for:

• Vergabe / Tender
• Monitoring / Execution
• Payments

The current vision for the templates is as follows

Value for the user
The templates might have a significant benefit for the usage of TruBudget. Instead of monitoring and transparency of the workflows, which make sense from a global view but might create work for the single user, now a single user gets guidance on what to do next using a standardised process approach. Therefore the template are more forward looking ("which step do I have to do next") rather than backward looking ("what happened in the project so far").

Implementation steps
The template function needs two sides.

• Select a template without your project/subproject. This might also include the pre-selection of actually required steps, because it is not possible to delete workflow steps at the moment.
• Administer existing templates for various use cases in an admin screen without the need to a release of configuration files or alike

Additional idea: instead of templates, have a good copy functionality for existing projects/workflows. This way, they can be re-used and provisioned easily per node.
