Might be easiest to keep the upgrade path a separate so just initial testing here.

Issues related to either Guest User or User Profiles might come up, but I'll separate those out into issues on the appropriate plugin so we can concentrate on walking through user steps here.

You'll need at least one additional email address to create your Guest User account for testing contributions.

The sequence of issues here is in a deliberate order, going through necessary steps first, and building up more complicated usage of the plugin.

Install Guest User and Contribution.

Review "Getting Started" text when you go to Contribution screen.

Set up appropriate registration info in Guest User.

Confirm creating guest users under the different conditions for access

Confirm creating new contribution type and editing existing contribution types.

Confirm contributing works

Confirm contributor info and item info displays

Confirm viewing "my contributions"

Confirm submission settings

Confirm User Profiles integration

So far, so good. I had problems with my own site (not related to this testing), but it is back live, and all pieces are installed. Will update regularly.

Was able to configure Guest User. Here is what guests see so far:

Was able to sign in as Guest User. Note: My guest account received three identical emails acknowledging joining. Administrator also received three identical emails informing of the account request.

Here is an error. I added a story as a guest user, and while the site accepted it, when I view the story from the public side, I get this:

When setting up my contribution settings so that contributors get the following email "Thank you for contributing," I received this error message:

Never mind. I uninstalled and reinstalled and it is fine.
I never did receive the confirmation email from here:

Confirmed: Superuser was able to change metadata for guest-contributed item, but not able to make public. As expected.

So, possibly another email issue. I just received an email from my site administrator (me) that my guest account was reactivated. This comes after making it inactive to test whether I could log in (see comment above) and the re-activating. So I got my re-activation email nearly 24 hours after the fact.

Something I missed when looking at the plugin earlier:
When setting up the form, in Contribution Types section and adding an element, there is no Dublin Core metadata to choose from, only item type metadata. This means every contributed item will have no DC metadata, and no answers can be mapped to those fields. It's especially noticeable because that means all contributed items will have no title.

I checked with Occupy Archive's version of the plugin, and admins could definitely choose DC elements to be included on the form.
