Cineform RAW please from Bayer data #15
Comments
Hi, thanks for the feature request. We are looking at supporting other RAW formats and transcoding in our roadmap. We have actually done some experiments with CineForm RAW - the catch is there might be extra work for NLEs to properly support CineForm RAW - for example we had to create our own plugin for DaVinci Resolve to handle colour temperature/tint adjustment. |
Awesome. However many of us have used Cineform RAW with it's active meta data in Vegas and other NLEs. Da Vinci has always had a problem with the RAW files from Cineform. Gopro Studio - the free version allows for control of all the RAW attributes in realtime OUTSIDE of the NLE. I have a copy of it and it can be found for free on the web. In combination with RAW files derived from DNG files, you can control white balance, Gain, saturation, 3D luts etc. It is a very powerful combination for those outside the Da Vinci world - which I do own. I am sure you will find many people who shoot with Cinema DNG cameras will find this an amazing addition to their tool set. I would even pay some money for the tool if it worked as well as RAW4Pro - the discontinued version of transcoder which I still own. The only issue is it requires a Cineform Professional version installed and it cause sother issues with exporting Cineform from NLEs. I just wish to have a future proof app to transcode from DNG to Cineform RAW at the highest quality settings. Muxing of audio isn't even required. The rest is covered. |
Thanks Russell,
Cineform RAW has it's own active meta data which enables colour grading
outside the NLE. For those of us in Vegas, it is a great solution. For Da
Vinci, which I also use, Cineform RAW support is poor. Please make it
possible for us? Just the conversion - forget plugins for compatibility.
Kind regards
Henry

Would be amazing if you guys could add Cineform RAW would be amazing. Not RGB but RAW. Virtualdub 2 has a porr implementation of this and as it is open source it would be an amazing addition. No other transcoder does Cineform RAW from DNGs.
