System details

  • OS: Windows 10 Pro - 22H2 (2009: 19045)
  • App Version: the in-app display of the version is blank; I have the latest available downloadable executable from gitHub.

Expected behavior

Reasonable CPU use on idle.

Actual behavior

Constant (or at least for the last five minutes, and counting) 11-13% CPU usage (on a i7-3770S - which is a quad-core - on a system that runs well) when idle.

This is a serious problem.

Step to reproduce the behavior

Install and run the app and then minimize it.

I managed to solve it by disabling the function of creating tray icon

@pauloswear : Thanks, but that is a workaround - and the start of a diagnosis - but not a solution.

I cannot reproduce the issue on an i7 4790k.

Thanks.

I have obscured matters by not giving the version of whatsapp-desktop that is at issue. (Perhaps the version at issue - which I got from GitHub - lacked any way of disclosing the version. I forget - and I use whatsapp-desktop no longer).

I can disclose that the processor that was at issue is, specifically, an Intel i7 3770S.
