Problem

At step 10 (As soon as the "Press the Power Button" screen appears...), I...

  • copy the LB files to my PW4 (f/w 5.16.2.1.1)
  • safe unmount from macos (using the eject icon)
  • then hold power

...but no language prompt screen ever loads.

Observations

  • It seems that it really is a race. I have mere seconds to do the full operation, or the device initiates a self-restart anyway.
  • everytime i first ;enter_demo and restart into demo mode, i can never ;demo. Entering ;demo freezes for a sec, then brings me to homescreen. I have to fully reboot the kindle (again, for a total of two boots into demo mode), and in the second boot, ;demo works.
  • I wonder if the the merge algo perhaps is in play? Can I fully purge all kindle files at the power screen, then copy? Or do I really need a merge with overwrites?

Appendix

Confirmation of files transferred to device root

Have the same problem. Did you find any solution?

Upd. Finally i got it. I downloaded and installed the official firmware and reset the settings. After that everything worked correctly. You can also try the one-click method.
