After all files have been written, eject your Kindle, then press and hold the power button until the unit reboots.

Ignore me if I'm wrong, since i don't know anything about how the jailbreak itself was implemented, but:

I've tried multiple times on my kindle for multiple unrelated reason, and for some reason only the first time worked. The second and third time I do this I could never make it work again. After some hours wasted on multiple trial and error I finally found out that you really CAN NOT pull out the cord but ONLY eject from the computer while in step 12, otherwise the selecting language menu wont show up while booting up. I know, that the tutorial said "eject kindle" without saying pull out the cord but my stupid ass brain chose to stay the cord plugged in the first run, but keep pulling them out in the follow runs, and I believe I'm not the only one that was this braindead. So please, edit the README and add the thing I said.

In my case, when at the “press button to start” screen, I eject the device and press and hold the button to reboot, it fails and goes back to the normal configuration asking me to connect to a Wifi network. A lot of times.

I copied and pasted the files and let the device disconnect by itself, then I pressed (without leaving pressed) the button and the language selection with Pseudot appeared.

All this without disconnecting the device from the PC.

This may also be helpful.

@xiey0 you don't have a stupid ass brain ,the HOWTO is really not clear.

=======

  1. After all files have been written, eject your Kindle, then press and hold the power button until the unit reboots.
  2. At this point, a language selection screen appears. Select 简体中文 (Chinese), which should appear above an entry called Pseudot and below Japanese.
  3. Your Kindle should reboot, and some log messages should appear in the top right-hand corner.

Applying the Hotfix

  1. After the device has rebooted, type ;uzb into the Kindle search bar to enable USB access within demo mode, then press enter.
  2. Connect the device to a PC and copy whichever Update_hotfix_languagebreak-{languge/locale}.bin file matches your language to the Kindle's root directory.

========

How is it we have to connect the device to the PC at step 2 if we never had to unplug it anyway since step 12 ?! 🤪
My device is still plugged when I arrive at this step...
It really needs some clarification. When are we supposed to unplug it, after step 12 ?
