Behavior issues after latest update [bug]

Description

Since updating to the latest (free) version, I've been experiencing weird behaviors. My extra buttons take 2 or 3 repeated clicks to perform their desired actions in apps (a keyboard combo), or more often perform the incorrect action, like taking me out of the app and to the desktop. Most commonly seeing the behavior in Adobe Premiere 2024. Button 5 doesn't respond at all anymore.

2. Nothing happens.
3. Press button 4
4. Nothing happens
5. Press button 4
6. Desired action.

1. Press button 4
2. Taken to desktop
