I was wondering if there is a kind of option/plugin to show a grid underneath the model.

Here is an example:

Hello @StefanThumann, we don't have such a feature at the moment, but I think this would be a great addition to our plugin.
But meanwhile, you can use three.js to add a plane below your model. (see #64)
