update: plugin does not see updated name of existing device

an existing rgbw bulb was renamed but the plugin does not see the updated name.
the log states the bulb was added as a cached device:
"Loaded 1 cached accessories from cachedAccessories.0EE0315637C2.
[TuyaWebPlatform] Loading accessory from cache: entry lamp
[TuyaWebPlatform] Existing Accessory found [Name: entry lamp] [Tuya ID: device 1] [HomeBridge ID: <***>]"

i have also added a new identical bulb which the plugin does not detect.
from the logs:
[TuyaWebPlatform] Tried overwriting device config for: "device 2" which is not a valid device-id or device-name.

any help is appreciated as i have 6 more bulbs i intend to add to homekit

update:
5 of the remaining 6 bulbs have been configured; 4 of them in the a ceiling fan & 1 in a lamp.
Strangely, 3 bulbs in the ceiling fan are accessible via homekit & are seen correctly by the plugin whereas 1 bulb receives the same as error as shown above.
the other bulb is in a lamp in my office which also displays the same error.
