Layer Styles

One of the main things I like about photoshop:

Each layer can have any number of layer styles applied:

• drop shadows / glows (could be reduced to a single color)
• outlines
• color / gradient / pattern overlay ( a dithered gradient would be especially nice)
• bevel (automatically adds highlights on one side and shadows on the other)

I'm imagining these all as a pixel art version, not exactly like the photoshop ones which add lots of colors
