I have the same issue. I'm running 11.0.1 on DS3615xs in ESXi 6.7 with 8GB of RAM. After 2-3 months of up-time there is a gradual increase in memory usage (I'm logging via SNMP with telgraf/grafana). In the latest iteration, total memory usage was at 34%. I ran htop and found that vmtoolsd/HangDetector both using 23.8% of the memory. Upon restarting pkgctl-open-vm-tools the total memory usage dropped to 5% and vmtoolsd usage dropped to 0.1%.

This has also occurred on a different hardware installation in ESXi 6.5 so it's not specific to 6.7.
