Back on track! #21

After a long void, I'm back with news. Above that, as soon this new display code gets ready, I'll update all the documentation here, including photos of the prototypes and progress of the project with some screens to give you all a sense of what's coming next. And of couse, with that I'll be able to go back keep following the project board tasks. The migration to new platform went way sideways to be able to keep track on there - that's hardly happening again, as I hate to work "untracked" - planning is everything. See you soon! |

After some void due the lack of free time (main work was crushing me), back to the project with some news.
As of today, the project starts the migration (yes, migration) to the RP2040 platform, since Waveshare (the company that develop the LCD screen we use) was kind enought to release a new LCD module with the RP2040 embeeded!
This new board even includes an USB type-C connector, some sensors, battery charging circuit and 2x GPIO 20pin expansion slot, wich makes the board stackable, thus allowing us to make a nice expansion board to include GPS, storage, communication and menu navigation system.
All of the above (packed in a cool 3D printed waterproof case - to be made) will allow us to have a nice and compact product, easy to use and solder-free (to be more welcoming to cyclists who doesn't have the required skills).
With that being said, no point to keep supporting the full version of Raspberry Pi family - like Zero (with the Linux OS stuff and so on). It will only make the project unecessarily complex (to make it compatible with both platforms), much less inviting (as it's too much DIY for the general cyclist, requiring soldering skills) and with a not so compact design.
Enough chatting, let's start coding!
