Can state of a class component be null?

Hello. I have some class components and I have defined their props and state shape with the generics to Component. But my in-editor linter is telling me that this.state can possibly be null. Isn't this false Alarm from my linter? If the state can really be possibly null, How should I check against that? And why the state of a component might be null?

state is null if you do not initliaze it

But in my case, I always initialize it and I don't want it to be null anytime.
