btw. you can add an executable file .git/hooks/pre-commit with e.g.

#!/bin/bash

black src
black tests

which runs every time you make a commit. This specific example only formats that files, it does not add the format changes to the same commit. But black tells you if it did something, so you can follow up with another git add ... and git commit -m "format"

or after adding: git commit --amend --no-edit to add the formatted files to the same commit (amending only works if you have not pushed in between)
