Is it possible to add more attributes to an option?

I tried with copyAttributes but I could not replicate it in TAG UL LI, and above all, I could not understand how to access the attributes of the element I selected.

I would like to do this to replace the contents of the SPAN where the selected element is highlighted.
I would rather get a different behavior than usual, after selecting an element to leave highlighted in the SPAN a text that I would like to decide.
