Respected Sir,

I am Pratyush, an electrical sophomore at IIT (BHU) Varanasi. I am very much interested in the Coaladraw project of GDSC SNU. I have some knowledge of Python, Javascript , CSS , HTML, and designing in Adobe illustrator. So I want to ask how to start and prepare for this project and what prerequisites I need for completing it.

I also request you to please guide me in making my proposal, because I am eagerly interested in this project!

Hi Pratyush,

Happy to see you here. There's not much of a requirement. We both will learn along. As a first try, we will try to keep it on web as that's universal.
For the drawing functionality, feel free to propose any libraries that may suit our need. Vanilla implementation is also fine for me. No restrictions.
On the backend, we can do WebRTC or Websockets (or, any other tech that fulfills our need). I'd let you experiment and would love to see some insights. Later, we will choose the one which suits us the best.

For the proposal part, feel free to look at some GSoC proposals. I'm not expecting that level of verbosity though (we're beginner friendly). With that being said, diagrams and references to you claims (that you may make in your proposal) is appreciated.

I am interested in COALADRAW project of GDSC SNU . I have knowledge of Android native development like kotlin, XML ,css and HTML.

So I want to know that how to start and prepare the project for the same and any prequisties that I need for this project.

Thank you for reaching out and for showing interest in my project.

Feel free to explore any technology. I don't want to limit your thinking potential as this is a very new project. Though, primarily I'm trying to make it an web app for compatibility reasons.

Your skill set seems to be more aligned towards android. If that's what your best interest is, I'd recommend you to take a look at A10DANCE also.

I am Khushboo Chaturvedi a computer science sophomore at RTU Kota. I found the CoalaDraw project of GDSC SNU very interesting. I have some experience in using HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, Javascript and Python. I was wondering if one should have any prior knowledge of a front-end framework or library like Angular or React for this project or will it be fine to go without any?

Thanks for reaching out. No specific library is needed. Feel free to use any. Vanilla HTML/CSS/JS knowledge is enough as far as the frontend is concerned.

Hi,
It's Pranshu here, 3rd Year UG at IIT (BHU) Varanasi. I am interested in the Project and want to work and contribute. I have been mostly into Competitive Programming hence pretty new to Development. Though I have some experience in Web Development and know MERN Stack.

I wanted to know there are no explicit guidelines or milestones given about the project. So, what can contributors expect and would be working upon? In the Project Proposals do we have to only suggest the features that we want to work on, or do we need to fully describe which technology we would be using, implementation, etc?
Also, I am eager to work with the backend team, though I am currently learning, so should I apply for the backend part also or only frontend part. I am eager to learn though.

This is more like open innovation. In your proposal, we expect you to cover all the aspects. But, do put more emphasis/analysis on the "end" you're really interested in.

I.e. If you're more like a backend person, analyse the collaborative feature, efficient data modeling in depth. But, also include a rough overview of the frontend (no UI design required).

If selected, you'll be working on the backend part mostly (as your proposal is leaned towards that). But, may need to touch the frontend if required.
