From Nick Patterson:

I see that "Sound" has been chosen as the object, under which musical audio would fall. I do think that it would be valuable to have some mechanism that would allow the distinction between musical and non-musical recordings. This is a distinction that is encoded in standard library cataloging, for example.

Of course, things can get difficult when considering things like recordings of half-sung poetry, sound art field recordings, etc, but the fundamental difference between musical and non-musical recordings is still so dominant that I think a practical ability to distinguish between the two is essential.
