Not sure if this is confusing for everyone but 3 of our engineers end up making a mistake with this.

We end up setting the integration url on the dataset url input ¯\(ツ)/¯ (silly but true)

Instead of going to the "copy dataset URL" item on the dropdown option at the top right side of the dataset UI ( which gives e.g https://data.world/aurielle/inc-5000-europe-2018 )

we continued to the "Connect to third-party apps" options, the Tablea, and then copying the connector url ( e.g http://tableau.data.world/?dataset_name=aurielle/inc-5000-europe-2018 ).

At first I blame myself for not paying enough attention, but then 2 other engineers made the same mistake.

Hope you find this contribution useful.

PS. this is more likely an issue for the website rather than a connector issue

Thank you, @Jaxolotl. This is good feedback.
Out of curiosity, is there a reason why you didn't consider copying the URL off your browser's address bar? We see that with our users too.

In my mind, the decision followed this path:

  1. Browser's url might not be the correct url for the dataset, but just the url for the website's UI
  2. Copy dataset link might not be the right one because I'm using Tableau instead of the website UI
  3. Connect to third-party apps might be the right option, let's see
  4. Oh cool, there's an url with the "enter the connector url" label, let's use that.
  5. bzzzzz error
  6. hum, let's read again, .... d'oh that's not the dataset url, is the actual connector url, let's go to item 2 and click that :P

I hope this to be helpful for you, sometimes UX is more like dealing with predefined mental patterns of the users (even when the UI is cristal clear )
