Edges of the input space must be properly compressed (probably in a lossy way) around the synapse reach sized border. This is in addition to the warping which will already take place around the center for motor-controlled input types (such as vision).

Currently treating synapses which reach outside edges of cortical space as though they are in a void, always finding zero activity. Presumably they will all tend to grow back inward on their own.
