The nomenclature currently does not support the description of fusions involving one of a number of partners within a gene family or a specific chromosomal region.

A proposal to capture these as symbols surrounded by square brackets for resource-defined gene groups or regions (e.g. [NTRK] may be defined by a database as NTRK1, NTRK2, NTRK3).
