From the 20.04 LP blueprints.

  • Show the current LTS and regular release on the front page
  • News visible on the front page?
  • A different style for the header (maybe extend the background area and overlay the intro on it?)
  • Use Gutenberg for laying out content
    • A block for latest posts (output with the excerpt) and a parameter for offset?
    • Reliability of Gutenberg columns?

Regarding 'Show the current LTS and regular release on the front page', I don't think we should do this as this info is on the download page. The front page should be a brief intro to the OS. Good examples are the Ubuntu Mate and Lubuntu front pages.

Regarding 'News visible on the front page?', what we have now is fine.

For the releases, maybe the LTS information is enough.

It's time since I've written this list, but I also imagine it refers to showing it automatically from the release information we are updating in the site. (We currently show the LTS release on the front page already, but ATM, this section has to be updated manually.)
