When I try to make things better I end up making it worse!

  • When updating the config screen to the new UI layout with the tabs "Settings", "Icon Grid" and "Customize" I removed the gradient bar area, whoops... But like magic it is back in! Honestly maybe you needed to see what it was like when you have less features so you appreciate them more...
  • Added Entity as picture support if entity has image in the state field.
  • Added Danish (DA) translation which was pulled/translated by @alphaspot so if the card makes no sense and you are Danish feel free to let him know how mad you are! JK be nice to him he is helping make this card better. Better than those other dumb cards in the community... You know who you are!

This is a small update but that doesn't mean it's worthless. Let this update know it is worth it and you're proud of it!

  • New Config Layout - That's right less scrolly scrolly more clicky clicky.
  • Added Reset Icon Colors and Reset Colors buttons - This way when you change a theme and want to reset the colors to the theme's defaults you can in an easier way.
  • Color Picker Improvements - I think I made some improvements, if not I apologize.... Seriously my bad.... Look give me a chance, I will always make it right....Maybeeeee.....

Dear Tony who donated a great chunk of $$ to me and this project. I want you to know I was working on this card when I saw the donation come through and nearly choked on my drink. Just to know someone out there was like man I should pay this crazy guy with cheezy changelogs and horrible jokes. This guy literally said I am going to pay him XX amount of dollars to inflate his ego even more! You are the reason why I stayed up until midnight the other night, that and I am lactose intolerant and played "Will this ice cream ruin me" game that night! Thanks Tony and all of your throwing me a tip, seriously means a lot to be part of a thankful community.

Keep the update train moving!

  • Added (NEW) Gradient Color Bar option. This allows you to toggle on a gradient for your charge bar, fuel bar or hybrid (both) to display a gradient with choices of colors from 0-100%. The Default is of course 0% Red and 100% Green but what if you wanted to make it so if your fuel his 50% turn red, well you can! Look adding this as a interface was hard so give me some props! Also a user named plaetzchen asked for this last month and seeing that I couldn't close the issue annoyed me, so I made it so...
  • Added Engine On Image. Now you can have your own image when your image is running. If you have a hybrid, whatever setting you have first battery/fuel that determines which image is shown.
  • Added Card Title Color customization.
  • Fixed entity images not showing.
  • Fixed translation in car state and from what I see everywhere is translating correctly.
  • Fixed animation of bar when charging or engine is on (affected some).
  • I literally set staring at this card for hours testing each variable to make sure it is working and I am proud to say at least 90% of it works and that is good enough for me haha.

In a world where dashboards ruled with an iron grip and vehicle stats were always one step ahead, one coder dared to defy the odds. The year was 2024. Cities were neon jungles, and dashboard warriors drove the streets in vehicles enhanced by the Ultra Vehicle Card—a rogue piece of tech with a mind of its own.

It started as a simple tool, just another card in the endless sea of Home Assistant add-ons. But soon, it became a force of chaos. Layouts would shift without warning, icons would glitch out, and sometimes, it would even refuse to show your mileage in numbers anyone could understand.

But then came The Coder. He was a lone wolf, living by his own rules, coding by night and fixing bugs by dawn. Armed with nothing but sheer determination, a half-drunk can of Dr Pepper, and a keyboard that sounded like gunfire when he typed, he knew he had to take control. The mission? Tame the Ultra Vehicle Card.

The Coder dove into the digital abyss, battling error messages, slaying rogue bugs, and dodging lines of code like bullets in a warehouse shootout. As he typed furiously, the card began to obey, surrendering its layout secrets and revealing new features like a weaponized arsenal.

When the smoke cleared, the Ultra Vehicle Card had been reprogrammed. It now served the people, with smoother layouts, powerful state dropdowns, and the ability to speak fluent Norwegian. The Coder tossed his keyboard aside, looked into the camera, and said, “Mission accomplished.”

Changelog:

  • Layout Selection:

Choose between the original single column and the all-new double column view—because sometimes, more is more.

  • Icon Grid State Dropdown:

Default Mode: Icons change between on and off like a well-timed explosion.

Options Mode: Select an entity option and watch the icons react like a hero facing his destiny.

Attributes Mode: Use attributes to match values and control inactive or active states—precision like a laser-guided rocket.

  • Template Mode (Beta): Add Jinja2 templates, but beware, this is uncharted territory. May summon geese or cause your dashboard to go nuclear.
  • Norwegian Language Support: Now your dashboard can scream action movie commands in Norsk. “Kom igjen!”
  • Fixed Mileage/Number Display: No more cryptic hieroglyphics—your numbers are back in action, clear as a Schwarzenegger one-liner.
    -Various Bugs Squashed: We found them, we hunted them down, and we eliminated them like a villain at the end of a high-speed chase.

This beta is primarily focused on making sure the new State Dropdown field is working as intended. Most importantly default should look for inactive and active states and if it sees them it applies inactive or active styles that you define. Template should allow users to add their own Home Assistant Jinja2 code inside for example state === 'hot' this means if the state equals hot then use this styling (can be used for inactive/active/both. Then you should see options if the entity has them, this will allow you to use the cards default state options to trigger the icon and color.

Hopefully we are getting closer on this....or maybe I am delusional...either way you are now along for the ride... muahahahahah....

  • Improved entity states how they appear active. I overhauled this whole thing to make it work better, trust me.
  • Added Main Image Height and Charging Image Height where you can indeed change those sizes.
  • Added show/hide title switch. Now with both this and the image height you can create many different layouts in section view from small to large!
  • Improve icon background colors if you choose square or circle.
  • UI Improvements
  • Other stuff that I will keep a secret because I don't know you yet...

Man did I break a lot of code before this release. I had to do some coding which broke that coding which created a dumpster fire. I really do think I improved things with this version although if I didn't I know my Discord group will let me know haha. Shoutout to them for helping me make sure I am not sending out junk!

Ohhhh did you know my card was mentioned in the Open Home Foundation newsletter (https://newsletter.openhomefoundation.org/true-platforms-let-you-create/). This means I am kind of famous. I told my wife and it seemed like she thought I was getting the Noble Peace Prize but for geeks. Shoutout to the writer sending more people my way, you the real MVP!
