AirPods Automatic Ear Detection not working

I have attempted to use my AirPods on the normal Spotify to confirm this wasn't a hardware issue on my behalf and it’s not.
The automatic ear detection does not work anymore.
It used to work before on the older version and then it randomly stopped so l tried updating Spotilife and it still does not work
pls fix
